Measuring a Trapezoid Cushion

Trapezoid shapes (often found in Bay Windows) require 3 specific dimensions. Follow this guide to ensure a perfect fit for your isosceles trapezoid seat.

Step 3: Back Width Step 2: Front Width Step 1: Depth ❌ DO NOT MEASURE ANGLE

Step 1: Measure Trapezoid Depth

Measure directly from the center of the front edge to the center of the back edge (perpendicular measurement).

⚠️ CRITICAL WARNING:
DO NOT measure the angled sides (slanted edges). Measuring the angled side instead of the straight depth will result in a cushion that is too deep and will not fit.

Step 2: Measure Front Width

Measure the front width from corner to corner (left to right) along the front edge of the furniture.

Measure the Furniture, Not the Cushion:
Always measure the actual area of the bench/wood you want covered. Old cushions may be warped or stretched over time.
ℹ️ Note: Trapezoid cushions wider than 50″ may require a center seam if you select striped fabrics.

Step 3: Measure Back Width

Measure the back width from corner to corner along the back wall.

Design Note: The zipper will be located along this back width edge.

Step 4: Select Thickness

Select your desired thickness. Our custom trapezoid cushions range from 2 to 5 inches and can be adjusted in 1-inch increments.

(Tip: 3 inches is the most popular choice for bay windows.)
