Measuring for a round pet bed requires translating your pet's length into a circle's Diameter. We require two measurements: Thickness and Diameter.
Step 1: Pet Bed Thickness
Select your cushion thickness (2 to 5 inches).
(Tip: For older pets or large breeds, thicker foam (4-5") provides essential joint relief.)
Step 2: Pet Bed Diameter
The diameter is the width of the circle measured straight across the center.
Example: If your dog is 24" long, a 32" to 36" Diameter bed allows room to stretch.
Expert Measuring Tips
Round pet bed diameters are adjustable in 1 inch increments. Round your calculation to the nearest whole inch.
Curler vs. Stretcher: If your pet curls into a ball, adding 8" is sufficient. If they stretch out, add the full 12".
When checking the diameter, ensure your tape measure passes directly over the center of the circle for the widest possible measurement.
Use a metal tape measure or yardstick. Flexible tapes are difficult to hold straight across a large diameter.
