Bolster pillows are versatile cylinders often used for armrests, back support, or aesthetic accents. Measuring is simple: we only need the Length and the Diameter.
Step 1: Pillow Length
Measure the long side of the bolster from end seam to end seam.
(This is sometimes referred to as the width, depending on how you place the pillow.)
Step 2: Pillow Diameter
The diameter is the "height" or thickness of the circular end.
We offer bolsters in diameters from 8 to 12 inches, adjustable in 1-inch increments.
Measure straight across the flat circular face (from top edge to bottom edge).
Do NOT measure the circumference (the distance all the way around the circle).
Measuring Tips
Bolster dimensions are adjusted in 1 inch increments. Please round your measurements to the nearest whole inch.
Use a carpenter's tape measure or ruler. Flexible tailor's tape can bend and distort straight-line measurements.
For armrests on daybeds, an 8" or 9" diameter is standard. For back support on deep sofas, 10" to 12" provides better height.
When you see "Height" listed for a bolster, it refers to the Diameter (the circle size), not the length.
