Use this guide for chairs, benches, loveseats, or sofas. Whether you need a simple replacement back pad or a deep-seating back cushion, getting the Height correct is the most important step.

Step 2: Width Step 3: Height

Step 1: Back Cushion Thickness

Select your cushion thickness (2 to 5 inches).

Step 2: Back Cushion Width

Measure the width from side to side.

⚠️
Measure the Frame: Measure the actual area of the furniture back you want covered, not your old cushion.

Step 3: Back Cushion Height

Measure the height from the bottom of the back frame to the top.

Does the cushion sit on top of a seat pad?

If yes (Deep Seating style), you MUST deduct the seat thickness, otherwise your back cushion will be too tall.

Total Frame Height - Seat Thickness = Cushion Height

Example: Chair Back is 24" High. Seat Cushion is 4" Thick.
24" - 4" = Order a 20" Back Cushion.

Select Your Top Shape

We offer 4 custom shapes for back cushions:

Squared All corners squared (90-degree). Standard.
Rounded Top Corners Bottom squared. Top corners have a 3" radius.
All Corners Rounded All 4 corners have a 3" radius.
Rounded Top Full arch on top. Bottom squared.

Expert Measuring Tips

 The Book Method

Stack books on your seat to simulate seat thickness. Measure from the top of the books up to the top of the chair frame.

 Use Rigid Tools

Use a metal tape measure. Cloth tapes stretch and lead to cushions that are too loose or tight.

 1/2 Inch Precision

We adjust width and height to the ½ inch. Round to the nearest half-inch (e.g., 20.5").

 Ignore Old Pads

Old cushions are often flattened or stretched. Always measure the furniture frame itself.
